Abstract
The aim of this study was to experiment the EAB in Romania and to realize a crosscultural comparison between the results obtained with the original ones obtained in Spain. Measures used: A) In Spain: 1. Emotional Adjustment Bank. 2. N scale of EPQ (Eysenck & Eysenck, 1975) and EA scale of BFQ were used to estimate the concurrent validity of EAB; B). In Romania: 1. EAB, 2. N scale of NEO FFI and N scale of FF NPQ were used to estimate the convergent validity of EAB. Subjects: A) In Spain: a total amount of 858 students, 19,4% males; B) In Romania: a total amount of 222, students, 11,3% males. Previous studies realized in Spain demonstrated acceptable psychometric properties of EAB (α=0.92, convergent correlations of 0.86 with EPQ-A N scale and 0.77 with BFQ EA scale). The present study demonstrated similar internal consistency and lower convergent correlations for the Romanian translation (α=0.88, convergent correlations of 0.62 with NEO FFI N scale and 0.53 with FF NPQ N scale).
The discussion is focused on the comparison of results obtained in the two studies from a cross-cultural perspective. These results suggest that EAB can be used in cross-cultural studies and in the same time that the construct measured is valid across cultures. Further discussions are focused on the comparison of results of exploratory factor analyses in the two cultures.
